On Friday, Jan. 17, before the historic snowstorm

On Friday, Jan. 17, before the historic snowstorm hit Houston, our team released over 40 cold-stunned green sea turtles back into the wild in Galveston. This was a joint effort with the @gulfcenterforseaturtleresearch, @galvestonisland Park Board, @texasparkswildlife, and other volunteers who helped rescue the stranded turtles. Read more about their story before they cleared for release by the Zoo’s veterinary team. Link in bio.

Your support helps the Zoo save sea turtles in the wild, along with our sea turtle conservation partner, Gulf Center for Sea Turtle Research at @aggiesbythesea.

Last fall, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Deo Ruhagazi, deputy director of @savingrwandawildlife (RWCA), and Dr. Jessica Kamatenesi, a field veterinarian, in Houston.
